Gunwharf Quays

A former naval dockyard cut off from public access, the land was sold for redevelopment. A JV between Land Securities and Berkeley Group was established and luxury retail outlet and leisure destination constructed. The remaining land was redeveloped for mixed uses, including the restoration and conversion of a range of Scheduled Ancient Monuments. The iconic Spinnaker was also constructed.

Planning and Listed Building consents were secured with close engagement with English Heritage to enable the Vulcan Building to be carefully reconstructed and converted to apartments, restaurants and an art gallery.

Following extensive engagement on design and community engagement on public art, the 29 storey / 98m tall East Side Plaza (known as the "Lipstick") secured planning permission, completing this prestigous regeneration.
