Will Hall Farm, Alton

The District Council had indicated Alton would need to accommodate new development through a Neighbourhood Plan. A number of options for residential development were being promoted, which the Neighbourhood Plan Group were considering.

Identifying the opportunity and introducing the promoter, the site was late to the table and initially rejected by the community. Working hard to engage in open discussions with the community and present initial thoughts and ideas, trust was built and proposals evolved to address concerns and realise aspirations, securing support for an allocation in the Neighbourhood Plan. Through community forums and design workshops, alongside the draft allocation, a planning application was submitted and approved with community support. The land was subsequently acquired by a house builder and built out in accordance with the Design Code prepared.
